May 29, 2024: What We Think About
"What we think, we become." - Buddha
Here's a scary thought: "The things that we think about are the things we become." I, and a whole lot of others, hope that that's not entirely true. For too many of us, the things we think about are the opposite of what we want to be or to have. What if we used the same coaching techniques on ourselves that we should be using on our children and grandchildren; encouraging them to be the best they can be, and to do the best they can do because we believe in them. If we can just learn to coach ourselves in the same manner, we might see major changes in our performance as we encourage ourselves to do the best we can and to be the best we can be. That could, and would, help us build the lives we want rather than living with the uncertainty about our ability to build those lives. "You can do that!" "You can do that!" "Just do your best!" "You can do that!" "Just do the best that you can!" Alright self-coaches, let's get to coaching ourselves!
