June 23, 2024: Failure is Good

"You learn more from failure than from success. Don't let it stop you. Failure builds character."
⁃ Unknown

Failure is an interesting beast. It can either devour us or it can teach us how to battle for the victory. Believe it or not, failure is actually good for us. How else can we build the strength to keep going when we are knocked down? How else can we find out what we are made of except on the testing ground of life with its victories and failures? Each time we fail at something, there's a lesson included with that failure that we should learn so that next time that sneak punch will not surprise us; we will be ready. As we learn where punches are coming from, we become more skilled and experienced in this battle we call life. With skill, we can do things well. With experience, we can avoid the pitfalls of the inexperienced. So cherish your failures and use them for the wisdom they can impart. By anticipating that we are going to fail sometimes, we are mentally prepared for the possibility, and thus eager to learn the lessons they provide. The more failures we encounter early on, the sooner we will be prepared for the inevitable success we were meant to enjoy. Mary Kay Ash, founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics Inc. reminded her sales people that, "We fail forward to success." So, let's get some failing going so we can make this success thing happen!
