September 23, 2024: I Gotta Do It!

"We have to continually be jumping off cliffs and developing our wings on the way down."
⁃ Kurt Vonnegut

There is something truly remarkable about life! For those of us who are willing and courageous enough to continually push against things that would limit the expansion of our horizons, there comes an extraordinary power or force that enables us to do things, to accomplish things that we didn't think we could do. Some of you reading this, can identify with what I just said. At sometime in your life, you were faced with a challenge that you may have thought was too great for you. Yet, something inside you made you go for it anyway and you were successful. You overcame whatever it was. And I would bet that looking back on that incident, you still may not know how you were able to get through that situation. Here are some thoughts to consider. You achieved something at the time that you did not think you could. Somehow, against all odds, your uncertain abilities expanded, allowing you to achieve something you had never done before. My personal belief is that within each of us, there are three distinct attitudes that we apply to the challenges that life presents. Those attitudes are: "I can't do it." "I think I can do it." And finally, "I have no choice, I gotta do it." When life backs us into a corner and there is no way out, but through that nearly impossible situation, the indomitable attitude, that "I gotta do it" makes it happen in spite of our fears, and in spite of our uncertainties. Here's the thing, if we can somehow harness that unstoppable attitude, and use it in situations that are not quite as dire, we will have found a force that will drastically change, the trajectory of our futures. The all important key is for us to work really, really hard to make that "I gotta do it" attitude something we can use at will. Do that and your life is going to become amazing!
