September 2, 2024: Opportunity Knocks

"Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work."
⁃ Thomas Jefferson

What does opportunity look like to you? A bird nest on the ground? A chance to get something for nothing? An unexpected doable way to increase your good fortune? Whatever your definition, remember that old adage, "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is," should be heeded. Some opportunities may only present themselves, if we are prepared for them. Continuing efforts at self improvement throughout our lives, greatly increase the likelihood that we will be prepared should opportunity knock. Most importantly, remember that opportunity does not send a 'save the date'notice. We must be prepared in advance. Ongoing efforts to improve our skills, and our personal attitudes are crucial to being ready when opportunity comes calling. Genuine opportunities usually require us to do something, so don't be frightened if your opportunity requires hard work and dedication. Most real opportunities do come wrapped up in work clothes.
