September 4, 2024: Making a Difference!
"If you think you're too small to make a difference, try spending the night with a mosquito." - African proverb
We are all potential difference-makers in someone's life. Whether or not we are aware of it, there is someone in our sphere of influence whose life could be made better if we gave them some of our positive input. This person may be a child, a younger sibling, a neighbor or that neighbor's child. We all have influence with someone. By paying closer attention to who listens when we are speaking, even though we may not be speaking to them, we just might discover who that person is. Once we make that discovery, we have an obligation to seek out opportunities to speak positivity into that person's life. We may never know about the lives changed by our caring input, but we can bet there are lives that have been changed for the better by us. A word of encouragement, a smile, a hug or a simple, sincere compliment can breathe hope, and inspiration into a person with whom life's battering ram has been working overtime. A bit of kindness costs nothing, but can reap huge dividends, not only to the recipient, but also the donor.
