November 6, 2024: Life Coaching
"Talk to yourself like someone you love."
-Brene Brown
It's pretty interesting how so many of us will show kindness, patience, and understanding to someone we love, and then turn around and brow beat ourselves for not being perfect; for having the audacity to make a mistake . At one time or another, we have all derided ourselves for making an error. We have called ourselves stupid, a numbskull , a dumb dumb and worse. We must be careful how we talk to ourselves because if there's anyone we believe and put credence in what they say, it's ourselves. Things we say to ourselves have a lot of power. Just as words we say to others have power, what we say to ourselves is doubly potent. Our self talks truly lay the groundwork for what we expect of ourselves and thus what we can actually accomplish. Think about it, each of us is our own Life Coach. As such it is truly imperative that we are encouraging and supportive of our own efforts to reach our full potential. Accepting the role as our own Life Coach should make us more tolerant and encouraging as we as we strategize and work to win this game called life. How good a Life Coach are you? We can all do a better job of coaching ourselves to victory while God's breath is still in us.
