November 13, 2024: SHOW LOVE TODAY!

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."
-Ludwig Jacobowski

Losing someone dear to us, is one of life's most heart-rending moments. We feel as if our world has just caved in. Mixed feelings of helplessness, despair and sorrow can come very close to overwhelming us. Many of us, myself included, can identify too well with those feelings. It is in those hurting times, that the depth of our faith and the strength of our belief in God is put to the test. Healing begins when we start giving thanks for the time we got to spend with that departed loved one. Cherished memories of wonderful times together can sustain us far into the future, where we can find continual peace, joy, and thankfulness for the memories of the many special moments we spent together. The sobering recognition that none of us is a permanent fixture on this earth, teaches us to more fully appreciate each day and each person whose friendship and love we can still enjoy today. The profundity of God's will for this world, and this universe, will forever be a mystery to us, but our faith and acceptance that God's will has been done is a powerful balm for the hurts and pains of this life. May the inevitable and continuous losses teach us to appreciate the loved ones who are still with us. Opportunities to show kindness, to give hugs and words of encouragement, to say "I love you,"all of those opportunities can only be shared on this side of life's veil. None of us know which day will be the last one we have to show kindness, to give a word of encouragement, a word of thanks, so do it today while you know you can. Do it today! Say it today! Today might be your only chance.
