Not feeling well, is another aspect of life that can reduce our level of happiness. While there are some special individuals who even refuse to let a body in pain or discomfort, take away their happiness or their joy, some of us knowingly continue to do things that invite sickness and eventually pain into our lives. It is those folks, which includes most of us, whom I would like to address today. Many of us are aware that some things are good for our bodies and some things are not. In spite of this knowledge, far too many of us while hoping, and perhaps even praying for good health, continue to abuse our bodies with bad fuel on which to survive. We overeat or under eat or ingest too much refined sugar, too much alcohol, too much whatever. Through the wonders of medical science, we are living longer. The question is, are we living better? For the overwhelming majority of us the answer to that question is no. We are not living better. We are literally digging our graves with our teeth. It is as if we have been hypnotized by the media, and by extension big businesses, to want to do what our heroes do. It has now gotten to the point where all it takes to start a new trend is to have it publicized and admired by a few celebrity or TikTok, Instagram or Facebook influencers, and off we go to do or wear or drive or eat or say the latest thing. Is anybody paying attention? Who's driving this train? And why are we on it? We have become a mindless mass of impatient numbskulls, waiting to be thrown our next treat by whomever it is we idolize and want to emulate. Why don't we just get off at the next train stop and start thinking for ourselves? Once upon a time, we were rumored to have a free will. But it looks like we have been mesmerized, into thinking that our desire to be like everyone else who's popular, and to do everything they do is exercising free will. Pardon me for bursting your bubble, but following the crowd is not now, nor has it ever been exercising free will. It's time to start thinking for ourselves so we can once again recognize that being like everyone else will never bring you satisfaction or happiness. Be yourself. You truly are enough.
