June 17, 2024: Who Are You?

The first problem for all of us, men and women, is not to learn, but to unlearn.

- Gloria Steinem

Throughout our lives, from our very earliest years up to the present, definitions of who we are have been thrust upon us by others; both well meaning and not. We have been called too fast, too slow, too smart, too dumb, too quiet, too talkative, too this, and too that. At some point in our lives, we have to create our own dictionary and develop our own definitions of who we are. It is at that crucial time in our lives, that we are ready to retrain our thinking about ourselves; a time for what Harold Maples in 1925, called "A time of agonizing reappraisal." For many of us that time of reassessment reveals that we are smart, in our area of expertise; that we are courageous when facing difficult challenges; that we are mentally much stronger than we thought we were. What new insights will your reassessment reveal about you? Your Enlightened Definitions about who you are today, are the only ones that really count! Download your personal dictionary and define who you truly are today. You may be pleasantly surprised at how much you've grown over the years!
