July 7, 2024: Stand Firm

"Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm. "Abraham Lincoln

Observing myself and other people has been a lifelong hobby of mine. It has been interesting and enlightening to notice how some of us seem to know where we stand on many issues, I.e., religion, parenting, friendships, politics, honesty etc. For others of us, where we stand seems to be determined by the circumstances or where someone else we know stands. Since life is so fluid, and we sometimes have to make split second decisions without much time for deliberation, if we had already thought through many of the different scenarios life could present us, we might be better off. We might make better quick decisions. There probably are and should be lines we won't cross; things we won't do under any circumstances. Setting up, our moral guard rails is something that takes a lifetime to do, but should always be a work in progress. We never know when who we truly are will be tested by life circumstances. Will you have already decided who you truly are before you need to show who you truly are? I pray that your answer is yes.
