July 14, 2024: Write Your Own Music

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

It is really unfortunate that most of us don't even get to write our own music, let alone get to sing it. There is such beauty within each one of us, beauty that rarely even gets recognized even by us. Life is such a hodgepodge of confusion and activity and more confusion and more activity that by the time we realize we've been dancing to the wrong tune, our song is almost over. At that point of realization, we are usually too old and tired to try to be that person we've discovered we should have been. Our get up and go has gotten up and gone. Then there's probably a lot of regret that sets in as we become aware of who we could have been and should have been for most of our lives. Fortunately, if there is still life in the body, we can and should invite ourselves into that make up room where we can take off our lifelong mask and become that inquisitive and artistic person we could not afford to be when we were riding that roller coaster that became our life. Wow! What might have been! If only we had not boarded that train to the hustle, bustle world with everybody else. At least we have a chance during our golden years to be that person, that carefree person that we would have enjoyed being all along. No time to waste! Let's get busy and celebrate that person we've discovered and show them a good time while we still can. Isn't life fantastic? Yes, it is
