July 1, 2024: High Expectations

“You were born to be real, not to be perfect.” - Ralph Marston

High expectations are a good thing, if we don't beat ourselves down with them. We can't win every race, nor always be the best at whatever we are doing. What we should expect of ourselves is that we do our very best at whatever it is we are doing. That is an expectation over which we have some control. "I will always do my best" is a standard by which we can all live. My mantra with my grandsons is that you always do your best and more importantly, that "your best is always good enough." "YOUR BEST IS ALWAYS GOOD ENOUGH." For many of us, doing our best may be a new experience. Do it anyway. Re-brand yourself! Become known as a person who always does their best, a person who can be relied upon to do what they say they're going to do. I can guarantee you that if you become a person whose word means something, a person who says what they mean, and means what they say, you will have very little competition in the workplace or anywhere else. In a society where the slackers are so prevalent, a brand that says I am dependable, that is backed up by your confirming actions, will place you head and shoulders above any so-called competition. I dare you to become a DO-MY-BESTER! If you decide to do it, fasten your seatbelt because good things are going to happen fast!
