August 2, 2024: Building Children
"A child is what you put into him." - African proverb
Some children grow up with confidence and self-assurance, while others appear to be meek and self-conscious. Have you ever wondered why or how that happens? Some children have parents who understand the importance of showing respect for people generally, and children in particular, as their personalities and character are in the formative stages while under their supervision. Those children are indeed fortunate and blessed. They have an opportunity to develop a sense that they are worthwhile human beings and can thus look forward with optimism toward their future. On the other hand, children whose parents do not grasp the full meaning of the simple truth that "as the twig is bent so inclines the tree," These children may grow up with verbal and physical abuse, which will convey to them, that they are not valuable; that they are less than capable of achieving happy, prosperous lives. All of our boys and girls deserve to be treated with love, kindness, and respect by any and everyone with whom they come into contact. Children are the future of the human race. Let's do our best to model character and kindness before them so they will grow up with character and kindness built into them. That is how we can all build a better future for this little planet we call home. If each of us does our part, the future will look much brighter than it does at present.
