May 20, 2024: Making Changes

“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” - James Baldwin

We all have things that we want to be better at, or to stop doing, or perhaps start doing. Whatever those things are, until we make a serious decision to change them, nothing is going to improve. Wanting to change something is no different than daydreaming about it. Hoping to change something is just wishful thinking. Actually changing something isn't terribly difficult, it just requires a decision to do so. When we make a decision to do something, all we are really doing is eliminating the other options. Choosing a single course of action, versus mulling over other potential options, is what making a decision is actually about. This brings us right back to a previously covered concept, which states that, "The difficulty in life is the choice." Why do you suppose it's so difficult to choose? I don't know either for sure, but I believe it's connected to our fear of not making the absolute best decision. It's as if we think the world is going to end if we make a mistake. I can tell you this. It isn't going to end. You will actually have another opportunity to make a different, perhaps better decision. So, just go ahead and decide.
MAKE A DECISION!
