June 8, 2024: True Friendships
"No friendship is an accident."
⁃ O. Henry
Those of us who are privileged to have true friends, know how blessed we are. But, in the course of living, we also meet people who seem to be without any true friends. I cannot imagine a more lonely feeling, than the absence of a true confidant; someone you can talk to about whatever is going on in your life. True friendships take time and a measure of vulnerability on both sides; a willingness to risk exposing our true feelings without the certainty of being understood. Once we have received support and understanding, at that inflection point of being vulnerable, the seed has been planted for the budding of a real friendship. True friendships are priceless and should be treated as the precious gems they are.
