January 1, 2025: BE HAPPY!
"There is only one happiness in life, to love and be loved." - George Sand
Listen to this meditation on audio:
The 19th century French novelist, George Sand, quoted above, made a noteworthy observation about happiness. If what he said is even partially correct, which it is, then the road to happiness is actually within the grasp of each one of us. To love and be loved is certainly one of the cornerstones of happiness. Sadly, it is not as readily available as it should be for any and everyone. The reasons for this are many and varied. Some of us, for reasons that may be obvious; for others for reasons that might be considered ridiculous, have not managed to establish this most basic of human needs. I don't know what your reasons may be for the rifts that may be keeping you and someone else from their happiness. I do know this, life is short, but regrets for not making amends while there is still time, last a lifetime. The words "I'm sorry" may not come easily to us, yet those two little words could be the only thing standing between you and a happy new year. I hope that you will not let pride or selfishness, rob you any longer of the happiness you should have enjoyed last year. The price of unhappiness is too high. Finding happiness by making amends with a spouse, a friend, a relative whomever is priceless! Please don't let another day of your life go by harboring bitterness toward someone to whom you should be showing love. The past is gone; it is irretrievable. Let's not allow old baggage to steal happiness from our future. I have been a happy person for most of my life. I attribute a large portion of that to what I call a good forgetary. I like to keep things positive so I don't say I have a poor memory, I just say I have a really good forgetary. There is something very liberating about living in the present, not the future, not the past. The present is the place to live because that is the only place we can do anything negative or positive. The present! Spend as much time as you can in the present and you will find far greater happiness than you will ever find living in the past. May God's peace be with you throughout 2025!
