February 3, 2025 LOOK OUT FOR YOUR GRANDCHILDREN!

"As the twig is bent, so inclines the tree." - Virgil

Listen to this meditation on audio:

Here's a scary thought - something for those parents who are still unclear as to what their parental responsibilities entail. That child you have been given the privilege and responsibility of raising, will someday be raising your grandchildren! Depending on whether or not you are effective parents who are providing a loving, supportive and fertile garden in which they can fully develop, your grandchildren are going to be the beneficiaries or the victims of your parenting abilities. Think for a moment about what I just said. The fate of your grandchildren, the fate of your grandchildren is going to be in the hands of that child you are raising right now. If you fail now, to grasp the gravity of your responsibility to that grandchild, you are heading for some major disappointments and heartaches in the future. Whether or not our parents raised us right, our future grandchildren's quality of life depends heavily on what we are able to do with whatever our parents were able to pass on to us. If they gave us much, we were blessed. If they had received very little from their parents and consequently had very little to pass on to us, it is up to us to learn whatever we need to learn in order to do the best we can for our children, and by default, our grandchildren. Every excuse we make today for not stepping up and doing what we must to be effective parents it's going to ring very hollow if we survive to see the unfulfilling lives of our grandchildren at the hands of their ill prepared parents whom we had the responsibility of raising. I have just painted a pretty daunting picture that sadly is the reality for far too many grandparents. They learned too late the irreversible damage done by their permissive, hoping for the best, style of parenting. Life doesn't give us what we hope for. Life gives us what we actively plan and work for. Are you a HOPER or a PLANNING WORKER?
