December 18 2024: No Something for Nothing!
"It's not the will to win that Matters; everyone has that. It's the will to prepare to win that matters." -Paul Bryant
Listen to this daily meditation on audio:
I remember an interesting incident several years ago. After finishing a seminar on relationships and reading poems from my book, ‘Women & Simple Truths,’ a young lady came up to me and asked if it was difficult to publish a book. I wasn't quite sure how to answer her but what I came up with was "If it is difficult, does that mean you're not going to do it?" Reality check. Almost anything we do that is worthwhile, is not easy. If you are looking for an easy way to do something significant or important, or profitable, you are on the wrong planet. That familiar scripture that says "you reap what you sow," says all we need to know to answer that young ladies' question. My personal assessment of how life works is this-the more you want to get out of life, the more you have to put into it. That goes for your education, your business, your relationships, your family or anything else you may want to do. Instant solutions and get rich quick schemes are just that, schemes. Those kinds of scenarios happen often in Hollywood, but rarely if ever in the real world. If you or I want to be something special, we have to do something special. The road to your dreams isn't really hard work. It's just that you have to work at it really hard. Whatever your dream is, I hope that you will be determined enough and disciplined enough to take the steps necessary to reach your goals. They are not unreachable, but they are not going to meet you halfway. You have to go out and make Life give you what you want. Once achieved, you will appreciate reaching your dream because you had to work for it. And never forget, we appreciate the things we had to work for.
