August 21, 2024: I’ll Show You!

"I am thankful to all who said no to me. It is because of them that I am doing it myself."
⁃ Albert Einstein

Sometimes a negative input to us, can have a positive outcome for us. Have you ever been told by someone that you could not do something? If so, do you remember what your response was? Did you accept their assessment of your abilities? Did you feel hurt by the remark? Or, did you decide that "I'll show him!" Did you then begin to marshall all your strength, all your determination, all your inner fire to prove to that person they could not tell you what you could or could not do? If that was you, then you know the power of a made up mind. You have already learned how powerful an emotional effort can be in getting to where you want to be. "I'll show them (him)!" Is an extraordinarily powerful force when wielded by a person who has had enough. For those of you who have not experienced the sheer power of a mind that is made up, I would like to challenge you to use that power in a little game of make believe. Think of something that you want to do, but have not begun because you are still fixing to get ready to get started to get going. Whatever that thing is that you really, really would like to get yourself to do, I want you to make believe that someone who has shown little confidence in you in the past, that someone told you that you cannot do whatever that thing is that you really, really want to do. I want you to get a little perturbed. In fact, I want you to get pissed off, not at the person, but at the thought that someone thinks you can't do something. I want you to let a little fire start burning in your gut, a fire that says "I'll show you! I'll show you that you can't tell me what I can't do!" Then, I want you to go out and prove to yourself that no one can tell you what you can't do! If you play this make-believe game well, with lots of emotion, you are going to learn something wonderful about yourself and the power of using emotions to fire you up and get you going towards your goals. Make believe is powerful stuff! Use it, to get yourself going!
