June 4, 2024: Building Self-Esteem

"The man who does not value himself, cannot value anything or anyone."
⁃ Ayn Rand

There is a path that leads to a life well lived. That path is paved with the bricks of our best efforts at whatever we do. Applying our best selves to whatever it is we decide to do, ultimately produces success in that effort; and in the process, gives us a true sense of satisfaction with our lives. There is something enriching and self satisfying in knowing that we consistently try to do our best. My favorite mantra with my children and my grandchildren has long been, "Your best is always good enough." The sense of self respect derived from knowing that you truly strive to do your best, should give you a genuine feeling of accomplishment, almost without regard to the outcome. That, in itself, is a powerful self-esteem builder.
